Ministry of Health and Social Welfare

July 27, Tirana – The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, closely inspected the work in the new Clinical-Biochemical and Microbiological Laboratory at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center, where she spoke about the standardization of protocols both in public health structures and non-public ones, with the aim of increasing the standard and quality of service for citizens.

“With a group of experts, we set up a working group to analyze the current system of all the rules, norms and standards that are currently applied in public and non-public services, the level of services in various health service structures, starting from laboratories, local health care units from the laboratories to the institutions of our scientific research structures and of course in all our hospitals and in the entire network where the laboratory service is provided and on the other hand to assess how the level is today in terms of services also in non-public structures, in relation to the standards and quality they should have, to guarantee the same standard of laboratory service for citizens”, said Manastirliu.

Head of the Clinical-Biochemical Laboratory Service at QSUT, Prof. Dr. Anyla Bulo underlined that with the new regulation, the standard will be improved, ensuring the same quality, both for patients diagnosed in Albania and for patients diagnosed in a European country.

“Today we have an international standard that is IZO 15 189 and this regulation, which is expected to be produced by the group of experts, will guarantee the improvement of the standard and all the rules of operation and organization of a laboratory and ensures the same quality, as for a patient who is diagnosed in Albania, as well as for a patient who is diagnosed somewhere in Europe and not only”, said Prof.Dr. Anyla Bulo.

Prof. Dr. Andi Koraqi, Head of the Microbiological Laboratory Service at QSUT, said:
“It is very important to have a standard for all laboratories, both for public laboratories and non-public laboratories, due to the fact that, at the moment, the development of our medicine is at a level comparable to European levels; are almost the same, so the results obtained from these laboratories should be reliable and comparable with laboratories in the world”, said Prof. Koraqi.

The working group with experts in the field has been set up to evaluate the current regulation of laboratories and also to see the development in perspective, with the standards that they must meet, with the accreditation, with the personnel that must work, the certification that they must have, in order that citizens have a guarantee that all the analyzes they do, in public or non-public structures, are carried out with the highest quality standard.
