The new Emergency Department of the Hospital of Vlora, Manastirliu is opened: the capacities are doubled, a new model of emergency service

Vlorë, August 9 – The new Emergency Department of the Vlorë Regional Hospital opens. The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, together with the representatives of the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, the Region of Tuscany and the National Medical Emergency Center, have closely inspected the reconstructed emergency with expanded capacities, according to contemporary standards.

“I am satisfied that at this peak of the season, we managed to complete the emergency, not only to expand the emergency capacities, with an increased number of beds, with a triage that is already according to European parameters, from the point of view of spaces , of devices, which will improve and increase the diagnostic and monitoring level in Vlora Hospital. A model of the emergency service in the Regional Hospital of Vlora, which will be replicated as a real model in other hospitals, and we will continue the investments throughout the country, from Shkodra to Saranda. From tomorrow this emergency will be functional, serving the tourists who are numerous in this season in Vlora, so the increased capacities of Vlora will be able to offer a high standard of service to the citizens of Vlora, but also for vacationers who come during the tourist season” – said Minister Manastirliu.

Speaking about the strengthening of human resources and the fleet of ambulances, Minister Manastirliu said:
“We are continuing with the investments in the National Emergency Medical Center again this year, increasing the number of ambulances as well as piloting through an ambulance with a dedicated medical team for home visits, which is another pilot project, which we will initiate thanks to the support of the Italian Cooperation and of course we will expand these services, to increase as much as possible the coverage of the health service in the territory, the access and the quality of the services”, said Minister Manastirliu.

The new emergency room at Vlora Hospital will set a contemporary standard for citizens, but also for tourists, a joint investment of the Albanian Government and the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development. In addition to the reconstruction of emergency rooms, the implementation of protocols and Standard Operating Procedures will also be guaranteed, starting from patient triage, diagnosis, treatment and their timely referral to hospital services or even for specialized treatments in hospitals that offer tertiary care /university. With the strengthening and modernization of the Emergency Department of the Vlorë Regional Hospital, we will have a point of reference not only for visitors to the Vlorë municipality, but also to Saranda and Himarë municipalities and tourists in the summer season.
