Ministry of Health and Social Welfare

August 31, Tirana – The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, together with experts from the Institute of Public Health and the doctors of the Infectious Disease Hospital at QSUT, have talked about the preparatory measures by the relevant health structures for the autumn-winter season.

“We are following a plan of measures, which has already been included in the plan of national, annual measures, regarding the protection of life and health of citizens. We have taken the measures regarding the strengthening of the surveillance network, the extension of the digital systems that belong to the aspects of monitoring, the epidemiological situation and vaccination”, said Minister Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection announced that 270,000 flu vaccines have been provided for all at-risk groups.

“Regarding this year, measures have been taken to have 270,000 flu vaccines, which are targeted for the population at risk, and ISHP is working to guarantee that immediately with the beginning of the autumn season, we also have flu vaccines”, said Manastirliu.

Prof. Silva Bino, Head of the Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Service at ISHP, has appealed to citizens to be vaccinated with the booster dose.

“We notice that the vaccine is effective, but the booster dose is important, because after a period of time the effectiveness fades and of course all people over 60 this season should be vaccinated simultaneously against the flu and against COVID and this is the best protection that the whole world uses”, said Bino.

Prof. Gheorgjina Kuli, Head of the Infectious Pediatrics Service and prof. Najada Çomo, Head of the Infectious Service, emphasized the importance of vaccination against influenza and Covid19.

Based on the autumn-winter plan, 270,000 citizens have been provided free vaccination against the flu for at-risk groups, while the supply of the vaccine against COVID19 continues. The Infectious Disease Hospital is fully prepared to deal with any situation. As for other measures, they are related to the further improvement of surveillance, this year the sequencing process will also be added, and the creation of the new digital vaccination system is also being completed, which will better manage the entire vaccination process. .
