July 21, Velipojë, Shkodër – “We managed to offer over 20 thousand consultations, visits and above all micro-surgical interventions that were done in all our structures in the summer health centers. There are over 20 thousand vacationers, tourists who received services in these health centers and over 30% of them are foreign vacationers. It means that we have an increased flow in this season, in terms of cases requiring health care”. The statement was made by the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, during the inspection of the 24/7 summer health center in Velipojë, Shkodra.
During the visit to the summer health center Velipojë, together with the Mayor of Shkodër, Benet Beci, Minister Ogerta Manastirliu also spoke about the national program for the rehabilitation of health centers.

“The Summer Health Center in Velipoja will be rehabilitated and the rehabilitation starts this year, but on the other hand it will improve all its performance, because we want to design this center as a 24-hour center and a socio-health center. To provide social care for the residents of the area and on the other hand, to add new services, such as physiotherapy and speech therapy, which really help the residents to have access to these services” – said Minister Manastirliu.
Speaking about the service at the Velipojë Summer Center, the Mayor of Shkodër, Benet Beci, called it a model center in providing free services 24/7 for vacationers and tourists during this summer season.

“I wanted to reiterate that the center here meets the needs best during the season and they have been, in my opinion, extremely professional and correct in meeting all the needs of the area and for this I thank all your staff, but of course also you for the investments the new thing you want to do in the center of Velipoja” said Beci.
30 summer health centers have been opened throughout the country since June 15, where non-stop service is offered, to respond in time and with quality to health emergencies during the tourist season. Also, along the entire coastline but also in the mountains, there are 18 ambulance stations, which have been established during the tourist season, in order to provide the fastest possible service to vacationers and tourists. In these days of extreme heat, 9 medical assistance units have been added to the territory, to help citizens who need health care.
