Milan, 4 February 2026 – The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Albania, Prof. Evis Sala, held productive meetings with senior officials and experts of the National Cancer Institute of Milan, aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the field of oncology and supporting the establishment of a National Cancer Institute in Albania.
During the visit, Minister Sala met with the President of the National Cancer Institute, Mr. Gustavo Galmozzi, to discuss the creation of a national cancer referral center in Albania, considered a key instrument for improving and enhancing the quality of oncological services in the country.
“Together with President Gustavo Galmozzi, we discussed concrete cooperation to support the establishment of the National Cancer Institute in Albania as a center for capacity building, multidisciplinary cancer treatment, scientific research, and the development of evidence-based oncology policies,” Minister Sala stated.
The Minister also held meetings with the Scientific Director, Prof. Paolo Corradini, and the Director of Medical Oncology, Prof. Filippo de Braud, during which best European practices were exchanged and specific areas and projects of cooperation were discussed.
Minister Sala emphasized the importance of this strategic partnership, which aims to improve care for oncology patients and ensure the sustainable development of institutional capacities, in line with the highest European standards. She highlighted this collaboration as a significant step toward the modernization and advancement of oncology services in Albania.
